IB World School
Horizon Japan International School is an IB (International Baccalaureate) World School, authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme (DP). IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that the Horizon believes is important for our students. We are currently a candidate school* for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), pursuing IB authorization for the PYP and MYP curriculum offered in our school.
Horizon Japan International School is accredited as a Gakkou Houjin (educational corporation) by Kanagawa Prefectural Government as of 2004. HJIS is also fully accredited by two of the world’s leading accreditation organizations: the Council of International Schools (CIS), based in Europe, and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), based in the USA. This recognition as an international school in Japan and having joint accreditation are evidence of our commitment to academic excellence. The high standards set by CIS and WASC Accreditations ensure that HJIS able to attract and retain professional and dedicated teachers.
Horizon has been granted membership in the Educational Collaborative for International Schools (ECIS) since 2007.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme (CP).
