Principal’s Message

Emin Huseynov

Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to our school website.

At HJIS, we encourage and nurture our students to become open-minded, caring, innovative and confident learners, empowering them to achieve their potential with integrity – both academically and personally in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.

One of our main goals is providing high-quality teaching and learning by combining a rigorous and balanced curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities with a personalised education encompassing a deep understanding of our students individual needs and abilities.

We purposefully look for staff who believe that inclusive practices encourage access to and participation in learning for all. Our approach to academic rigour through our IB programmes encourages student agency. The most important inclusive practice is supporting and encouraging students to develop the skills to advocate for their own learning needs. Teachers actively contribute to the learning of students through collaborative practices. During such collaborative practices, teachers spend time to plan and learn together implementing the most effective and progressive teaching and reflecting strategies to enhance student learning outcomes. We believe that strong collegial relationships can be developed only when there are mutual trust and respect, focusing on professionalism, open communication and a supportive network. The following practices help our teachers to build a strong collaborative environment at HJIS.

  • New Teacher Induction Program
  • Peer Mentoring and Peer Coaching
  • Professional Learning Communities
  • Professional Development Programmes
  • Use of Technology to Facilitate Communication and Collaboration

I personally believe that establishing positive home-school partnerships provide the foundation to support students’ learning, growth, wellbeing and agency. All members of our community believe the importance of ongoing communication and parent engagement by aiding parent understanding and inviting them to actively promote their child’s growth in and beyond the classroom. Your involvement is an essential component to the academic success of your child.  I encourage you to visit our website often and join the events below.

  • Parent Curriculum, Assessment and Technology Nights
  • Parent Teacher Association
  • Parent Classroom Representatives
  • Student-Led Conferences
  • Home–School Communication Newsletters
  • Formal and Informal Discussions
  • Learning Celebrations

I am looking forward to an amazing school year in service to our students, parents, and community.

Kindest Regards,

Emin Huseynov
